As we look back and reflect on the terror attacks on America on 9/11/01, there were two moments that involved baseball that made us feel slightly better even for just a few moments.
One was on September 21st, 10 days after the attacks, The Mets were playing their first game back at Shea Stadium when Mike Piazza hit a monstrous home run to put The Mets ahead of The Braves in the 8th, eventually giving them the win.
The other moment was before Game 3 of the World Series when the series shifted from Arizona to the Bronx. The first pitch was thrown out by President George W. Bush, who was wearing a NYFD jacket, to throw a perfect ceremonial first pitch strike.
